The Foo Fighters are returning to the stage to perform the band's first concert since its hiatus.

The Dave Grohl-led rock band, which went dormant in 2012, will play a show in Mexico City next month, Rolling Stone reports. The band will play two dates -- Dec. 11 and Dec. 13 -- at the city's Foro Sol venue, with indie rockers the National opening.

Chances are the band could break out some new material written since its hiatus, which began a little over a year ago last October. The band began convening for its eighth album -- and first since 2011's chart-topping "Wasting Light" -- this summer.  Drummer Taylor Hawkins told Billboard that he felt the band still hadn't written its "Hotel California" or "Bohemian Rhapsody." "You always want every one of them to be the best one you've ever done, and you always think you haven't done your best one," he admitted.

During the hiatus, Grohl kept busy with former Nirvana bandmates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear at last year's Hurricane Sandy 12-12-12 benefit with Paul McCartney. He also made his directorial debut with "Sound City," a documentary about the shuttered Los Angeles recording studio of the same name.

No word on when the Foos' next album will show up.

"Wasting Light" debuted to major acclaim upon its early 2011 release, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 235,000 first-week copies sold.
